Privacy policy
Last updated October 13, 2026
This site collects as little as it can. It sells nothing to anyone, runs no advertising, and uses no tracking that follows you to other websites. This page explains what is collected, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who runs this site
gailendavid.com is the personal site of Gailen David, operated by Airoplex, LLC, in Miami, Florida. Questions about this policy or your information go to gailen@gailendavid.com.
What we collect
- Contact form. Your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message, so Gailen can read it and reply.
- Newsletter sign-up. Your email address and which letters you chose: the Ask Jetiquette column, memos from Aluminum Lady HDQ, or both.
- Emails you send. Whatever you include when you write to gailen@gailendavid.com directly.
- Basic server records. Like nearly every website, our host keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) to keep the site secure and working.
We do not collect payment details, and we do not ask for any information beyond what is listed here.
How the newsletter sign-up works
The two letters are published from their own sites. When you tick a letter and submit your email, gailendavid.com passes your address to that letter’s mailing list only: the Ask Jetiquette column at jetiquette.org and the Aluminum Lady memos at aluminumlady.com, both also run by Gailen David. Each list sends a confirmation email first, and nothing arrives until you confirm. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and each site’s own privacy policy covers its list from that point on.
Why we use it
- To read and answer your message (our legitimate interest in replying to people who write to us).
- To send the letters you asked for (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing).
- To keep the site secure and running (our legitimate interest in operating the site).
Who else sees it
Only the services needed to run the site: our web host, the email service that delivers messages, and the two newsletter lists described above. They handle your information only on our behalf. We never sell, rent or trade it, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Cookies
The site uses only the essential cookies WordPress needs to work and to protect its forms from spam. There are no advertising, social media or cross-site tracking cookies. If we ever add visitor statistics, they will be privacy-friendly and kept on our own systems, and this page will be updated first.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: up to three years, so we can follow up on a conversation, then deleted.
- Newsletter sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: kept by our host for a short period, usually no more than 90 days.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Write to gailen@gailendavid.com and we will reply within 30 days. You can leave either newsletter at any time with one click.
If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you live in California, you have the right to know what we collect and to have it deleted, and we will never treat you differently for asking.
Where your information is kept
This site and the services it uses are based in the United States. If you write from outside the US, your information is transferred here; where the law requires it, we rely on our providers’ standard contractual safeguards for that transfer.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
The site runs over a secure connection (HTTPS), and access to messages and sign-ups is limited to Gailen and the services named above. No system is perfect, but we keep what we hold small, which is the best protection of all.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
